Bala Mill Slalom July 12th Results

Below are Shropshire's results from their efforts on the challenging Div 3/4 Bala Mill course. Gari almost winning.

Runcorn hasler 19 July

Runcorn Canoe Club is holding its hasler race on 19 July.  It is out of region so there are no points to be won for Shropshire paddlers but it does could towards hasler races to qualify for the hasler finals in Reading at the end of September for those who haven't yet qualified.

All races will take place on the River Weaver, starting and finishing at Runcorn Canoe Club, Clifton. Located 0.5 miles from M56 J12, (OS Ref 526798). Sign posted from Motorway.

Starts will commence at 12:00 prompt (13:45 for Fun Race & Lightning's).
Check-in 09:30 – 11:30.
Briefing will take place 11:35

Fees:

Divisions 1 – 9 £5.00 per seat, (50p discount for Under 18’s)
Lightning Race £2.50 per seat

Plus £3 event ticket for non-BCU members.

Reminder:   you need 3 k1 races to race K1 (or 3 C1 races to race C1) at the hasler finals; to race K2 or C2 you need 3 races of some kind either in a canoe OR a kayak.   If you're not sure whether you have qualified, give Deb a shout.

Rhug Slalom results 20/21 June - James is promoted!

A few of the boys from the club headed down to Rhug (North Wales on the way to Bala) for the division 3 & 4 slalom.

This year Rhug is a new slalom site on the calander., refreshments apparently tasty but expensive at the nearby organic farm shop.

Results were as follows:

June 20th

Division 3 K1 Men:

Gari Sumner  2nd/16 -   in atime of 117 (1 second behind the winner)

Les Davies    4th

David Reevey  6th

Division 4 K1 Men - James Tompkis 3rd/14 & promoted in his first slalom!!

June 21st

Division 3 K1 Men:

Gari Sumner  2nd / 16

Les Davies    5th / 16

James Tompkis 10th / 16

David Reevey   11th / 16

Overall some impressive results from Shropshire. Next local division 3/4 race is at Bala Mill on Sunday July 12th.
